Core Highways is a leading provider of temporary traffic management, barrier solutions, and event signage across England and Wales. The team prides itself on delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions while providing excellent service and innovative thinking to clients nationwide.
As the business continues to grow, Core Highways is looking for a passionate and motivated IT Support Apprentice to join the team and develop their career within IT.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a genuine interest in technology to gain hands-on experience within a busy IT environment while working towards a recognised apprenticeship qualification. You will work closely with the Group IT Manager, supporting office-based and remote users across the UK while developing skills in IT support, networking, Microsoft 365, hardware deployment, and infrastructure support.
As part of the apprenticeship, the successful candidate will receive structured training delivered by Baltic Apprenticeships, including two-day training blocks every 4–6 weeks, alongside hands-on experience in the workplace. This combination of practical experience and expert training will help develop the technical knowledge and professional skills needed for a successful IT career.
In this role, you’ll work towards your Level 3 Information Communications Technician qualification, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.
A Typical Day in the Job:
- Provide first-line IT support to office and remote users via phone and remote support tools
- Build, configure, and deploy laptops, desktops, and mobile devices using Microsoft Intune
- Assist with troubleshooting hardware, software, connectivity, and mobile device issues
- Support Microsoft 365 applications and user accounts within Entra and NetSuite
- Help maintain the company’s IT asset register and ensure equipment is up to date
- Assist with antivirus management, security patching, backups, and system maintenance
- Support network infrastructure, including WiFi, mobile connectivity, and Starlink systems
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of VoIP telephone systems
- Liaise with third-party suppliers and vendors to ensure smooth IT operations
- Deliver occasional field-based IT support when required
Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the team at Baltic Apprenticeships.
Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge
- Passion for IT and technology
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office or Microsoft 365
- Interest in hardware, networking, and troubleshooting
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle would be beneficial
- Grade 4 in GCSE Maths & Grade 5 in GCSE English.
Salary, Hours & Benefits:
- Salary: National Living Wage per year
- Monday to Friday 40 hours per week
- There may occasionally be overtime, earlier starts, or later finishes depending on business requirements, with advance notice provided wherever possible.

This apprenticeship programme will provide you with everything you need to launch and develop your career in IT support. Afterwards, we’ll support you to take the next steps, including further training and progression onto a Level 4 qualification.
Your Training with Baltic Apprenticeships
This Level 3 apprenticeship provides everything you need to immerse yourself in the exciting world of technology and launch a rewarding career in IT.
You’ll get hands-on experience in all areas of technical support, from configuring devices to supporting with software, optimising performance and setting up virtual environments. With our unique curriculum and one-to-one support, you’ll accelerate your skills and get the qualification and confidence you need to thrive in IT.
You’ll be based full time with an employer and will quickly become an important part of the team. Our training is 100% online, including real-time classes with our expert trainers and self-paced courses created by industry specialists.
