Apprenticeship Funding
There is a range of government funding and local authority grant schemes available, which are designed to help you train the next wave of talent or invest in your team’s professional development.
Large organisations with an annual salary bill over £3 million are required to contribute to the Apprenticeship Levy. The Apprenticeship Levy is a dedicated apprenticeship fund, which employers can use to cover the costs of apprenticeship training and assessment.
For SMEs & Microbusinesses that do not pay into the Apprenticeship Levy, the Government will fund 100% of apprenticeship training and assessment costs for apprentices aged 16 – 21 and 95% for apprentices aged 22 and over.

The programme is structured into seven progressive learning areas, guiding apprentices from strong network foundations through to secure operation and readiness for end point assessment.
COURSE 1
Apprentices develop a strong technical foundation in core networking principles. This stage focuses on network models, protocols, addressing, switching, routing, and the components that underpin modern networked systems. Learners build the knowledge required to understand how devices, services, and applications communicate across networks and how failures can occur.
COURSE 2
Apprentices focus on how network engineering work operates within an organisational context. They develop skills in prioritising tasks, working to service levels, following organisational processes, and communicating technical activity effectively. This stage reinforces professional behaviours, stakeholder awareness, and the importance of accurate documentation and record‑keeping.
COURSE 3
This stage develops the capability to plan, install, and configure network and cloud solutions. Apprentices explore network architectures, cloud and hybrid concepts, and the integration of new services into existing environments. Emphasis is placed on implementing changes in a controlled way while maintaining performance, integrity, and availability.
COURSE 4
Apprentices build structured approaches to diagnosing and resolving network and system issues. They learn to use monitoring, diagnostic, and analysis tools to identify faults, assess impact, and apply appropriate fixes. This stage strengthens analytical thinking and reinforces effective incident handling and performance optimisation.
COURSE 5
This stage focuses on protecting networked systems against threats. Apprentices develop the skills needed to maintain secure configurations, apply security controls, and operate in line with organisational policies and legislation. Learners consider both technical and procedural aspects of securing modern network environments across on‑premise and cloud platforms.
COURSE 6
This stage focuses on protecting networked systems against threats. Apprentices develop the skills needed to maintain secure configurations, apply security controls, and operate in line with organisational policies and legislation. Learners consider both technical and procedural aspects of securing modern network environments across on‑premise and cloud platforms.
COURSE 7
Learners consolidate their technical and professional skills by interrogating networks, diagnosing issues, implementing secure solutions, and recording outcomes independently. This ensures apprentices are confident, prepared, and assessment‑ready.

BENEFITS OF APPRENTICESHIPS
“Over 10 years ago, we quite quickly figured out that for the business to grow we needed to have some of the next generation of engineers. We looked around and apprentices seemed to be the best way to do that.
Any forward-thinking company, especially in the IT sector, needs to think about how they would attract and retain talent.
One of the key benefits that apprenticeships have had on Resolve is, is that we’ve had the ability to have young, fresh, new talent come into the organisation and then progress through the organisation.”
