This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive IT team and begin a career in technology through a hands-on apprenticeship programme.

As an IT Support Apprentice, you will play a key role in supporting schools across the Trust by providing first-line technical support and helping maintain reliable IT systems for staff and students.

You will gain valuable experience working with a range of hardware, software, and networking technologies while developing practical skills in troubleshooting, customer service, and IT infrastructure support.

This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about technology, enjoys problem-solving, and wants to build a long-term career within IT.

As part of the apprenticeship, the successful candidate will receive structured training delivered by Baltic Apprenticeships, including two-day training blocks every 4–6 weeks, alongside hands-on experience in the workplace. This combination of practical experience and expert training will help develop the technical knowledge and professional skills needed for a successful IT career.

In this role, you’ll work towards your Level 3 Information Communications Technician qualification, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • Provide first-line IT support through the school ticketing system
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently to minimise downtime
  • Support users with hardware, software, and connectivity issues
  • Work with different networking architectures and IT systems
  • Assist with the setup, maintenance, and configuration of devices and software
  • Deliver excellent customer service to staff and students across the Trust
  • Support the wider IT team with day-to-day technical tasks and projects

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong interest in IT and technology
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • Grade 4 in GCSE Maths & Grade 5 in GCSE English.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • Salary: £15,392 per year
  • Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:00pm, Friday: 8:00am – 3:30pm
  • 27 days holiday plus bank holidays

This apprenticeship programme will provide you with everything you need to launch and develop your career in IT support. Afterwards, we’ll support you to take the next steps, including further training and progression onto a Level 4 qualification.

Your Training with Baltic Apprenticeships

This Level 3 apprenticeship provides everything you need to immerse yourself in the exciting world of technology and launch a rewarding career in IT. 

You’ll get hands-on experience in all areas of technical support, from configuring devices to supporting with software, optimising performance and setting up virtual environments. With our unique curriculum and one-to-one support, you’ll accelerate your skills and get the qualification and confidence you need to thrive in IT.

You’ll be based full time with an employer and will quickly become an important part of the team. Our training is 100% online, including real-time classes with our expert trainers and self-paced courses created by industry specialists.
