Brentside High School is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic IT Support Apprentice to join their dedicated IT team. This role offers the chance to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic school environment, providing technical support to both staff and students. The successful candidate will receive on-the-job training while working towards a recognised qualification, developing key skills in IT systems, troubleshooting, and customer service.

In this role, you’ll work towards your Level 3 IT Support Apprenticeship, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

 

A Typical Day in the Job:

 

  • Gain experience with scripting (PowerShell) to automate tasks, initially under supervision.
  • Learn to interpret technical documentation using internal resources such as structured folders and a SharePoint-based knowledge base.
  • Support the team in meeting Service Level Agreements (SLAs) by responding to helpdesk tickets within set timeframes.
  • Use a range of troubleshooting tools, including Active Directory, Imperial, and Wireshark, to assist in diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
  • Provide technical support internally and externally via the helpdesk system, with a focus on in-person and email-based support.

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the Baltic team.

 

Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • £18,000 – £20,000 per annum
  • Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm, with 1 hour lunch break
  • 25 days annual leave
  • 22.5% pension contribution by school
  • School gym available to staff after working hours

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Grade 4 in Maths and 5 in English is essential for this role
  • Interest in working with computer
  • Be willing to learn and follow instructions
  • Work effectively under pressure
  • Communicate effectively
