Apprentices will play a pivotal role in supporting the Trust's IT infrastructure, contributing to the seamless integration of technology across schools, and ensuring that digital resources enhance the learning experience for all.

In this role, you’ll work towards your Level 3 Information Communications Technician qualification delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • Under direction, carry out basic installation, maintenance and repairs of IT hardware (includes desktop PCs, laptops, Chromebooks, tablets, printers and audio visual equipment)
  • Under direction, carry out software installation and updates, utilising a variety of tools such as SCCM, Google Workspace Admin Console and Microsoft Intune.
  • Maintenance of inventory records, ensuring the asset inventory is always up to date.
  • Support with IT security systems and procedures, including password resets, MFA configuration and support, and email security checks.
  • Create and maintain a range of IT documentation, including knowledge base articles, technical diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Respond to requests for IT Support in accordance with IT services, procedure and SLA's, utilising the trust's IT helpdesk platform.
  • Assist and support the team with a range of IT projects, such as system migrations and networking projects.
  • Travel between the different schools within the trust to provide hands on support where required.
  • Undertake routine visits and provide hands-on IT Support across their other primary and secondary schools within the Trust.

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the Baltic team.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • £14,526.20 per annum.
  • Monday to Thursday 8am-4pm, Friday 8am-3:30pm.

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of staff, students, and other stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Office software and other desktop products would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of current software operating systems would be beneficial.
  • Ability to work successfully alone and as part of a team.
  • Ability to problem solve and think creatively.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding children and ensuring the welfare of children.
  • Be able to remain calm, empathetic and treat all students with dignity and respect, even when face with challenging behaviour.
  • This role requires regular travel between their school sites within York. Therefore, candidates must have access to reliable transport (e.g. car, motorbike or bicycle) to fulfil the duties of the role.
  • Grade 5 in GCSE English and Grade 4 in GCSE Maths.
