As part of a dedicated support team, you will play a key role in ensuring the school's technology infrastructure operated efficiently, supporting over a thousand studens and staff in their day-to-day learning and teaching activities.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and enthusiastic individual to begin a career in IT within a busy and supportive educational environment. As an IT Support Apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience supporting a wide range of technologies including Windows devices, Apple Macs, networking equipment, servers, audio-visual systems, and user accounts.

Working alongside experienced IT professionals, you will develop valuable technical skills while providing first-line support to staff and students across the school.

The IT Apprentice will receive structured training through Baltic Apprenticeships, including 2-day training blocks every 4–6 weeks, alongside hands-on experience in the workplace. This combination of practical learning and formal training will help build a strong foundation for a long-term career in IT.

In this role, you’ll work towards your Level 3 Information Communications Technician qualification, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • Provide first-line IT support to staff and students, troubleshooting hardware, software, network, and user account issues while maintaining accurate support records.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade desktop PCs, laptops, Apple Macs, operating systems, software, printers, and other IT equipment across the school.
  • Support the management of user accounts, permissions, Active Directory, and network access controls to ensure secure and efficient system access.
  • Monitor, maintain, and help improve network infrastructure, servers, internet connectivity, and school-wide IT systems to ensure reliable performance and security.
  • Assist with software updates, system improvements, technical documentation, and the creation of user guides for staff and students.
  • Support specialist departments and school systems, including library services, whilst contributing technical recommendations for future IT purchases and developments.
  • Manage IT equipment and consumables, including stock control, inventory management, and liaising with external IT support providers and suppliers when required.
  • Provide audio-visual support by setting up, maintaining, repairing, booking, and securely storing AV equipment for lessons, presentations, meetings, and school events, while supporting users in its effective operation.

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

  • Grade 4 in GCSE Maths & Grade 5 in GCSE English.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • Salary: £18,000 – £23,000 per annum
  • Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm (1 hour unpaid lunch)

This apprenticeship programme will provide you with everything you need to launch and develop your career in IT support. Afterwards, we’ll support you to take the next steps, including further training and progression onto a Level 4 qualification.

Your Training with Baltic Apprenticeships

This Level 3 apprenticeship provides everything you need to immerse yourself in the exciting world of technology and launch a rewarding career in IT. 

You’ll get hands-on experience in all areas of technical support, from configuring devices to supporting with software, optimising performance and setting up virtual environments. With our unique curriculum and one-to-one support, you’ll accelerate your skills and get the qualification and confidence you need to thrive in IT.

You’ll be based full time with an employer and will quickly become an important part of the team. Our training is 100% online, including real-time classes with our expert trainers and self-paced courses created by industry specialists.
