This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for IT, networking and technology to begin their career with a world-renowned organisation. As an IT Apprentice, you'll join the Services and Solutions Delivery team, working alongside experienced Remote and Field Service Engineers to support the connectivity and IT infrastructure of Philips' healthcare systems across hospitals throughout the UK and Ireland. You'll gain invaluable real-world experience while building the skills needed for a successful career in IT infrastructure.

In this role, you'll work towards your Level 3 Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • Monitor and report on the connectivity status of customer systems
  • Check system reachability and liaise with Field Service Engineers to resolve connectivity issues
  • Review previous connection attempts and identify recurring issues
  • Support engineers with the installation and configuration of edge routers and 4G routers
  • Assist with customer VPN migrations and remote connectivity requests
  • Manage customer exclusion lists and maintain accurate system records
  • Produce regular reports on connectivity performance and installation success rates
  • Communicate with customers regarding remote connectivity and service updates
  • Support the UK & Ireland Remote Support Lead and wider Field and Remote Engineering teams
  • Gain hands-on experience supporting the IT infrastructure that enables critical healthcare technology across the UK

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and by the Baltic team.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • Salary of £17,500 per annum, with a salary uplift after 12 months
  • Monday to Thursday, 9:00am – 5:15pm, Friday 9:00am – 4:45pm (37 hours per week)

Desired Skills, Qualities and Experience:

  • A genuine interest in IT, networking, security and system connectivity
  • Strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach
  • Logical thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Organised, proactive and eager to learn
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English
  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs, including Maths, English and Physics at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 2 A Levels, BTEC or equivalent qualification
  • A full UK driving licence would be advantageous but is not essential

Your Training with Baltic:

This Level 3 Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship provides everything you need to build a successful career in IT infrastructure and networking.

You'll gain hands-on experience supporting enterprise connectivity, network infrastructure and remote technologies while developing the technical skills required to support critical business systems. With our unique curriculum and one-to-one support, you'll gain the qualification, practical experience and confidence needed to thrive in the IT industry.

You'll be based full-time with your employer and quickly become a valued member of the team. Our training is 100% online, including real-time classes with our expert trainers and self-paced courses created by industry specialists.
