An exciting opportunity has arisen at ASSET Education for an enthusiastic and technology-driven individual to join the IT team as an IT Support Apprentice. This role is ideal for someone with a genuine passion for IT who is looking to build a career in technical support while gaining a recognised qualification. Working alongside experienced IT professionals, you will provide first-line support across multiple school sites, helping to maintain IT systems, support staff and students, and ensure technology is available to enhance teaching and learning. You will receive hands-on training across a variety of technologies, including hardware, software, networking, audio-visual equipment, and user support.

The IT Apprentice will receive structured training through Baltic Apprenticeships, including 2-day training blocks every 4–6 weeks, alongside hands-on experience in the workplace. This combination of practical learning and formal training will help build a strong foundation for a long-term career in IT.

In this role, you’ll work towards your Level 3 Information Communications Technician qualification, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • Provide first-line IT support for hardware, software, network, and user issues.
  • Log, prioritise, and update support tickets through the helpdesk system.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, escalating where necessary.
  • Install, configure, and maintain IT hardware and software.
  • Support user account administration and password management.
  • Assist with maintaining IT equipment inventories and stock levels.
  • Provide classroom and on-site technical support to staff and students.
  • Carry out routine maintenance checks on computers, printers, and other IT equipment.
  • Assist with audio-visual setups for assemblies, events, and presentations.
  • Support the implementation of new technologies and software solutions.
  • Ensure IT equipment is maintained in line with security and safety procedures.

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge

  • A genuine interest in IT and technology.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Grade 4 in GCSE Maths & Grade 5 in GCSE English.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • Starting salary: £15,392 per annum.
  • Salary increase after the first year.
  • Monday to Thursday: 8:30am – 4:30pm, Friday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
  • (30-minute unpaid lunch break each day)
  • 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Full apprenticeship training and support.
  • Hands-on experience across multiple IT systems and technologies.
  • Opportunities to network and learn from experienced IT professionals across the Trust.

This apprenticeship programme will provide you with everything you need to launch and develop your career in IT support. Afterwards, we’ll support you to take the next steps, including further training and progression onto a Level 4 qualification.

Your Training with Baltic Apprenticeships

This Level 3 apprenticeship provides everything you need to immerse yourself in the exciting world of technology and launch a rewarding career in IT. 

You’ll get hands-on experience in all areas of technical support, from configuring devices to supporting with software, optimising performance and setting up virtual environments. With our unique curriculum and one-to-one support, you’ll accelerate your skills and get the qualification and confidence you need to thrive in IT.

You’ll be based full time with an employer and will quickly become an important part of the team. Our training is 100% online, including real-time classes with our expert trainers and self-paced courses created by industry specialists.
