IT Support Apprentice – Leek Building Society (Leek, Staffordshire)

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for IT support queries via phone, email, service desk system, or in person.
  • Logging, managing, and updating incidents and service requests accurately within the service desk system, ensuring clear audit trails.
  • Providing first-line technical support, including password resets, access requests, device setup, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Escalating more complex issues to senior team members, ensuring clear and timely communication.
  • Assisting with the setup, configuration, and maintenance of IT equipment using tools such as Microsoft Intune.
  • Supporting new starters and role changes, ensuring devices and access are ready in line with security requirements.
  • Assisting with software installations, updates, patches, and driver management under supervision.
  • Supporting IT security processes, including access management and device security.
  • Performing daily system health checks and responding to alerts from monitoring tools.
  • Maintaining documentation, user guides, and knowledge base articles as your skills develop.
  • Building knowledge of networking, cloud technologies, and basic scripting tools such as PowerShell.

You’ll be supported by experienced professionals and complete your apprenticeship through Baltic Apprenticeships.

  • Basic digital literacy and confidence using computers and systems.

  • A professional, reliable, and conscientious attitude.
  • A Grade 5/C in GCSE English and 4/C in GCSE Maths is required for this role.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • £20,431 per annum
  • Monday to Friday 08:00 – 17:30, plus occasional Saturdays 08:30 – 13:00

Your Training with Baltic Apprenticeships

You’ll complete a Level 3 IT Support Technician Apprenticeship, gaining hands-on experience alongside structured learning, virtual classes, and dedicated mentor support. This programme will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to succeed in the IT industry.
