Oundle School is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice IT Help Desk Analyst to join our IT Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to begin a career in IT, gaining hands-on experience within a busy and supportive school environment while working towards a recognised qualification.

As the routine first point of contact for the School’s IT Service, you will receive and manage a wide range of support requests from Support Staff, Academic Staff, and Pupils. With guidance from experienced colleagues, you will carry out first-line investigation and diagnosis, resolving issues where possible and appropriately escalating more complex incidents.

Throughout the apprenticeship, you will develop practical skills in troubleshooting, incident management, customer service, and technical documentation. You will assist in creating and maintaining support documentation, gathering key information to support incident resolution, and communicating clearly with users about actions taken.

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • Act as the first point of contact for IT support requests from staff and pupils.
  • Log, categorise and prioritise incidents, providing first-line troubleshooting and escalating where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate ticket records and keep users informed of progress and resolutions.
  • Deliver excellent customer service in line with agreed IT support standards.
  • Assist in identifying recurring issues and support problem resolution and preventative measures.
  • Provide basic application support, system configuration, and user guidance within own level of competence.
  • Support change management processes by documenting and tracking approved system changes.
  • Maintain accurate IT asset records, assisting with equipment deployment, tracking, and reporting.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external suppliers to support issue resolution and service improvement.

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Grade 4/C in GCSE Maths and Grade 5/C in GCSE English
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels including written reporting 
  • Proven ability to build key client relationships 
  • Excellent Time management and organisational skills 
  • Able to learn on the job and have a flexible approach to working 
  • Team player, enthusiastic and self-motivated individual

This apprenticeship programme will provide you with everything you need to launch and develop your career in IT support. Afterwards, we’ll support you to take the next steps, including further training and progression onto a Level 4 qualification.

Your Training with Baltic Apprenticeships
