iTEK Computer Solutions is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic IT Apprentice to join their growing team. The company provides managed IT, technology and telephony services and support to businesses across Cumbria and the surrounding areas, helping organisations operate efficiently and securely through reliable IT systems and expert support.

This opportunity is ideal for a candidate with a positive attitude and a genuine interest in IT who is looking to begin a career in the technology sector. The ideal apprentice will be eager to learn, enjoy problem-solving, and be keen to develop their skills within a professional IT environment. The successful candidate will become part of a friendly and supportive team of experienced IT engineers who will provide guidance and mentoring throughout the apprenticeship. The team works collaboratively and is committed to delivering high-quality service to customers while supporting the apprentice’s development.

As part of the role, the apprentice will receive structured training delivered through Baltic Apprenticeships, including 2-day training blocks every 4–6 weeks, alongside practical, hands-on experience working with real IT systems and customers. This apprenticeship offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable industry experience while building the skills needed for a successful long-term career in IT.

In this role, you’ll work towards your Level 3 Information Communications Technician qualification, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • Follow IT security procedures and assist with maintaining secure systems and user access.
  • Interpret and apply technical documentation to complete IT support tasks correctly.
  • Support IT service processes by helping meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and assisting with escalations where required.
  • Record IT tasks, incidents, and requests using service management systems to maintain accurate audit trails.
  • Provide first-line technical support to internal staff and external users via email, phone, or remote support tools.
  • Assist with installing, configuring, maintaining, and upgrading hardware such as desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices.
  • Gain experience working with cloud-based systems and services used within the organisation.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of IT processes and solutions.

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn new IT skills and technologies.
  • A strong interest in working as part of an IT team and contributing to shared goals.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A driver would be preferred due to limited public transport links.
  • Grade 4 in GCSE Maths & Grade 5 in GCSE English.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • £18,000 per annum.
  • Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.
  • Company events.

  • Sick pay.

This apprenticeship programme will provide you with everything you need to launch and develop your career in IT support. Afterwards, we’ll support you to take the next steps, including further training and progression onto a Level 4 qualification.

Your Training with Baltic Apprenticeships

This Level 3 apprenticeship provides everything you need to immerse yourself in the exciting world of technology and launch a rewarding career in IT. 

You’ll get hands-on experience in all areas of technical support, from configuring devices to supporting with software, optimising performance and setting up virtual environments. With our unique curriculum and one-to-one support, you’ll accelerate your skills and get the qualification and confidence you need to thrive in IT.

You’ll be based full time with an employer and will quickly become an important part of the team. Our training is 100% online, including real-time classes with our expert trainers and self-paced courses created by industry specialists.
