We're seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join a team as an IT Apprentice at a well established school. As an IT Apprentice, you'll have the unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the vibrant world of educational technology while gaining valuable hands-on experience and mentorship from seasoned IT professionals.

As an IT Apprentice, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring that their technology systems run smoothly and effectively, empowering teachers and students alike to achieve their full potential.

In this role, you’ll work towards your IT Support Technician Level 3 apprenticeship, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • Connect, set up, and check PCs, mobile devices for normal operation, ensuring that all devices are configured to support the educational needs of their students and staff.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including installing basic software packages and setting common options, to ensure the optimal performance of their technology systems.
  • Set up hardware and perform basic checking of unnetworked PCs, ensuring that all hardware components are functioning correctly and safely.
  • Fault-find and rectify AV issues, including PCs, display screens, projectors, sound systems, and interactive touch screens, to ensure uninterrupted access to multimedia resources for teaching and learning.
  • Carry out basic safety checks on IT equipment and infrastructure to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and mitigate potential risks to students and staff.

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the Baltic team.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • £16,000 per annum
  • Working Monday-Friday, 08:15 – 16:30
  • Early finishes on Fridays
  • Fully office based
  • 27 days holiday
  • Company pension scheme

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Enthusiasm for technology and a desire to learn and grow in a dynamic educational environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts (prior experience or coursework in IT-related fields is a plus but not required).
  • Dedication to providing excellent customer service and a willingness to go above and beyond to meet the needs of the school community.
  • A positive attitude, adaptability, and a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of students.
  • Grade 4 in Maths and a grade 5 in English at GCSE is required for this role.
