Calling all aspiring IT Support technicians! King Edward VI Foundation Trust has an exciting opportunity for an IT Support Apprentice to join their team of experts. They have a wealth of experience in supporting apprentices, there is no better place to kick-start your career!

 

King Edward VI schools are happy, flourishing, and friendly communities as well as outstandingly successful, selective schools. The IT tech team supports the schools across one network infrastructure. Support consists of all technologies that utilise this infrastructure, including Microsoft File & Print Services, VOIP & Biometrics

 

You will be an essential part of the team as an IT Apprentice, responsible for a wide range of tasks such as installing/troubleshooting software, responding to helpdesk inquiries, and everything in-between to enhance your IT skills to become an effective IT support technician.

 

In this role, you’ll work towards your IT Support Apprenticeship delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

 

A Typical Day in the Job:

 

  • Troubleshoot, update and maintain Computers, Laptops, Devices and Computer peripherals such as AV equipment and printers
  • Install, support and troubleshoot all software, patches and drivers
  • To assist in the support, maintenance, development and administration of the school’s Network Infrastructure, Systems and Online Services
  • Assist, where appropriate with IT projects
  • Document and report incidents, problems, solutions, and feedback using appropriate tools and systems

 

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the Baltic team.

 

Salary, Hours & Benefits:

 

  • Salary – £18,189 (Term time plus 10 days)
  • Within salary as term-time role, so no bookable days. Paid 34 weeks per year inclusive of bank holidays
  • Membership in a regulated Pension Scheme
  • Monday – Friday (36.5 hours)
  • Access to training courses and funding towards role-related professional qualifications for eligible employees
  • A programme of Continuing Professional Development, including apprenticeships
  • Free access to the school gym (where applicable)
  • Free access to an Employee Assistance Programme offering free, 24-hour confidential assistance

 

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:

 

  • Someone who wants to work in a school
  • Good customer service skills
  • Passionate about IT
  • Able to prioritise tasks
  • Grade 4/C in Math's and 5/C in English

This apprenticeship provides the skills, qualification and experience you need to immerse yourself within an exciting, fast-moving industry and become an effective IT Support Technician.
