The Trust is seeking an IT Apprentice with a genuine interest in technology who is enthusiastic, motivated, and eager to learn. This role is ideal for someone looking to begin a career in IT, who is keen to develop their skills, keep up with evolving technologies, and gain hands-on experience in a real working environment. The successful candidate will join a supportive and experienced IT team, where guidance, learning, and professional development are actively encouraged. The team works closely with school staff to provide reliable IT support and ensure systems meet the needs of users across the Trust.
As part of the apprenticeship, structured training will be provided through Baltic Apprenticeships, including two-day training blocks every 4–6 weeks. These sessions will support the apprentice in developing technical knowledge, professional skills, and confidence, alongside on-the-job learning and ongoing support.
In this role, you’ll work towards your Level 3 Information Communications Technician qualification, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.
A Typical Day in the Job:
- Provide day-to-day first-line IT support to staff and users within the assigned school or hub.
- Diagnose, resolve, and escalate IT incidents in line with service desk procedures and SLA requirements
- Liaise with end users during system updates and new system rollouts, providing feedback to the IT Team Leader..
- To assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of school-based IT hardware, software, and network services, as directed.
- To carry out identified system testing and record maintenance.
- Support the school with IT hardware and services as required.
- Assist with asset tagging, tracking, and accurate record keeping.
- Manage first-line repairs and ensure service desk records are kept up to date.
- Communicate effectively with school staff to ensure IT systems meet operational requirements.
Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and by the team at Baltic Apprenticeships.
Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge
- Enthusiastic and motivated, with a genuine interest in starting a career in IT.
- Able to keep up with rapidly changing technology and adapt to new software and hardware.
- Willingness to learn from colleagues and follow guidance and procedures.
- Basic understanding of IT systems, hardware, and software (or a desire to develop this knowledge).
- Good problem-solving skills and a logical approach to troubleshooting.
- Communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
- Reliable, organised, and able to manage time effectively.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude and commitment to personal and professional development.
- Grade 4 in GCSE Maths & Grade 5 in GCSE English.
Salary, Hours & Benefits:
- £16,000-£18,000 per annum.
- 8am-5pm Monday to Friday.

This apprenticeship programme will provide you with everything you need to launch and develop your career in IT support. Afterwards, we’ll support you to take the next steps, including further training and progression onto a Level 4 qualification.
Your Training with Baltic Apprenticeships
This Level 3 apprenticeship provides everything you need to immerse yourself in the exciting world of technology and launch a rewarding career in IT.
You’ll get hands-on experience in all areas of technical support, from configuring devices to supporting with software, optimising performance and setting up virtual environments. With our unique curriculum and one-to-one support, you’ll accelerate your skills and get the qualification and confidence you need to thrive in IT.
You’ll be based full-time with an employer and will quickly become an important part of the team. Our training is 100% online, including real-time classes with our expert trainers and self-paced courses created by industry specialists.
