IPEX is seeking a hard-working and motivated IT Apprentice with a genuine interest in technology and a desire to build a career in IT. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, eager to learn, and keen to develop practical skills in a real-world IT setting.
The successful apprentice will work as part of a friendly and supportive team of experienced IT professionals, gaining hands-on experience while being guided and mentored throughout their journey. Alongside on-the-job learning, the apprentice will receive structured training delivered in 2-day training blocks every 4–6 weeks in partnership with Baltic Apprenticeships, providing a strong foundation for a future career in technology.
In this role, you’ll work towards your Level 3 Information Communications Technician qualification, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.
A Typical Day in the Job:
- The IT Support Apprentice will support the day to day running of IT systems while developing practical technical skills across device setup, troubleshooting, security and customer support.
- The role involves working closely with the wider IT team to help ensure systems, devices and users are supported effectively across the business and its customers.
- The apprentice will assist with setting up new devices for staff and customers, including installing and configuring hardware, software and security tools such as antivirus and multi factor authentication.
- They will also help maintain device security through password management, encryption support and applying group policies where appropriate.
- A key part of the role will involve responding to support requests through ticketing systems, email and phone.
- The apprentice will help diagnose technical issues relating to hardware, software, networks and cloud platforms, escalating more complex problems to senior team members when required.
- They will work within agreed service level agreements and use support systems to log activity and track progress.
- The apprentice will support software installation, configuration and updates across a range of systems including Microsoft 365 and other client specific platforms.
- They will also assist with building laptops and configuring devices, setting up networking equipment and ensuring devices connect correctly to local and cloud based systems.
- Throughout the role, the apprentice will use internal documentation and technical guidance to support their work and will contribute to maintaining knowledge resources for the team.
- Gain exposure to cloud technologies and automation tools, helping to improve efficiency by supporting simple automated processes.
Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the team at Baltic Apprenticeships.
Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge
- Motivation to learn and develop within the IT field.
- Genuine interest in technology and how IT systems work.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally via email.
- Understanding of IT concepts and willingness to build technical knowledge.
- Positive attitude and ability to work well as part of a team.
- Grade 4 in GCSE Maths & Grade 5 in GCSE English.
Salary, Hours & Benefits:
- £14,722.50 (dependent on age) per annum.
- Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.
- Casual dress.

This apprenticeship programme will provide you with everything you need to launch and develop your career in IT support. Afterwards, we’ll support you to take the next steps, including further training and progression onto a Level 4 qualification.
Your Training with Baltic Apprenticeships
This Level 3 apprenticeship provides everything you need to immerse yourself in the exciting world of technology and launch a rewarding career in IT.
You’ll get hands-on experience in all areas of technical support, from configuring devices to supporting with software, optimising performance and setting up virtual environments. With our unique curriculum and one-to-one support, you’ll accelerate your skills and get the qualification and confidence you need to thrive in IT.
You’ll be based full time with an employer and will quickly become an important part of the team. Our training is 100% online, including real-time classes with our expert trainers and self-paced courses created by industry specialists.
