Inspire Learning Trust is a Multi Academy Trust based in Rotherham which also includes Oakwood High School, Sitwell Junior School, Thomas Rotherham College and Winterhill School. The Trust Apprentice IT Officer will work proactively and reactively to maintain reliable technical services working hands-on to provide appropriate solutions. All technical staff will contribute to the delivery of an outstanding and robust IT Service across the Trust. This post is part of the Trust IT Service, the post holder will work at any Trust school/college as required. Some flexible working may be required to support Trust events and support requirements.
A Typical Day in the Job:
- Provide Excellent IT Support: Deliver high-quality customer service to staff and pupils by diagnosing, resolving, or escalating technical issues in line with IT policies and procedures.
- Support Device and System Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance, installation, imaging, and configuration of computers, mobile devices, peripherals, and software to ensure smooth operation.
- User Account Administration: Manage user accounts, access control, and device provisioning across the Trust, ensuring data security and timely setup.
- Maintain IT Infrastructure: Support the installation and upkeep of network cabling, servers, and related equipment under guidance, ensuring all systems comply with safety and legal standards (e.g. GDPR, Safeguarding).
- Track Inventory and Perform Preventative Maintenance: Maintain accurate records of IT assets, monitor stock levels, and carry out regular checks and cleaning of equipment to extend usability.
- Engage in Professional Development: Undertake a Level 3 IT Apprenticeship, participate in ongoing CPD, and assist in creating user-friendly training materials for non-technical audiences.
Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the Baltic team.
Salary, Hours & Benefits:
- £24,796 per annum
- Monday – Thursday 8-4pm, 30 min lunch, Friday – 8-3:30, 30 min lunch
- 22 days' holidays plus bank holidays

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong Communication Skills: Able to communicate effectively with pupils, staff, parents, and stakeholders, adapting technical language to suit the audience.
- Organised and Self-Motivated: Manages workload efficiently, takes initiative, and follows direction when required.
- Adaptable and Eager to Learn: Demonstrates a willingness to develop new skills and embrace evolving technologies.
- Problem-Solving Mindset: Capable of troubleshooting issues methodically and applying logical thinking to resolve IT problems.
- Discreet and Trustworthy: Handles confidential and sensitive information with professionalism, in line with data protection policies.
- Experience with IT Systems: Possesses relevant training or practical experience in supporting and working with IT-related technologies.
- GCSE Grade 5/C in English and grade 4/C in Maths is required for this role
Your Training with Baltic:
You will be enrolled in a Level 3 Apprenticeship in IT Support, providing you with formal qualifications and practical skills. You’ll also have access to one-to-one mentoring sessions with senior team members and on-the-job training that aligns with your career goals.
