Tell us about The One Point.

The One Point is an award-winning managed technology provider, offering IT and Cyber Support, Digital Transformation, VoIP and Business Mobile.

We started the business in 2005, and here we are today in 2024, and it feels like a blink of an eye! We support about a thousand businesses on a day-to-day basis across the country. We are very proud of what we do, we’ve got some great people in our team.

Why did you introduce apprenticeships into your recruitment strategy?

We worked out quite early doors that recruiting talented and skilled staff was going to be a challenge. So what we focused on was getting highly skilled people into the business and then doing a grow-your-own strategy through an apprenticeship scheme.

We started working with Baltic in 2016. Baltic has been by far the leader in terms of being able to provide good quality candidates, support those candidates, and support them on their learning journey while meeting our business needs. It’s worked really well.

How have apprenticeship programmes benefited The One Point?

For me, having a structured apprenticeship programme within The One Point has been really valuable, and I think it’s had a huge impact on our success.

Probably the biggest advantage that we felt as a result of having a structured apprenticeship scheme is that it has given people a career path. It’s fostered that sort of feeling: ‘I can go somewhere within this organisation’ – there isn’t a glass ceiling, so that has worked really well for us.
