Are you passionate about technology and looking to start your career in the IT industry? AMC IT is looking for an enthusiastic 2nd Line Support Engineer to join our growing team and gain hands-on experience within a leading IT solutions provider.
At AMC IT, we believe technology should empower businesses, not overwhelm them. Since 2005, we have grown from a local IT provider into a trusted technology partner, delivering innovative solutions across managed IT services, cybersecurity, cloud solutions, infrastructure, and professional services. Our mission is to help organisations work smarter by providing reliable technology solutions delivered with a personal touch.
We’re looking for someone who has a genuine passion for technology, enjoys solving problems, and is excited to learn how technology can support businesses in their day-to-day operations. You’ll be naturally curious, a strong communicator, and someone who enjoys working with people as much as working with systems. Whether you’re helping troubleshoot issues, supporting projects, or developing your technical knowledge, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact from day one.
You’ll join a supportive and knowledgeable team of IT professionals who are passionate about sharing their expertise and helping you develop your skills. At AMC IT, we pride ourselves on being approachable and people-focused, creating an environment where you can ask questions, build confidence, and grow throughout your apprenticeship.
Alongside your role at AMC IT, you’ll complete your apprenticeship training with Baltic Apprenticeships. You’ll attend dedicated online training sessions in two-day blocks every 4–6 weeks, giving you the opportunity to build your technical knowledge, gain industry-recognised qualifications, and apply your learning directly in the workplace.
In this role, you’ll work towards your Level 4 Infrastructure & Security Engineer qualification, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.
A Typical Day in the Job:
- Diagnose and resolve inbound IT support requests, including tickets escalated from 1st line support, while working within agreed SLAs.
- Configure and maintain PCs, laptops, desktops, servers, switches and routers, including hardware upgrades and troubleshooting.
- Monitor network and system performance using tools such as Wireshark, Rapid7, PRTG, Dato RMM and Action1.
- Support network security and maintenance through MFA, password management, firmware upgrades, patching and vulnerability management.
- Maintain accurate documentation of technical procedures, customer environments, support interactions and resolutions using IT Glue and JAW.io.
- Work closely with the IT team on client projects, rollouts, site visits and deployments, escalating complex issues to senior engineers where required.
Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the team at Baltic Apprenticeships.
Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge

- An interest in IT security, including MFA, password management, patching and vulnerability management.
- Ability to use and learn technical tools such as Wireshark, Rapid7, PRTG, Dato RMM and Action1.
- Good communication, organisation and documentation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with the IT team and support clients.
- Grade 4 in GCSE Maths and Grade 5 in GCSE English
