Maltby Learning Trust is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic IT Support Apprentice to join our central IT team. This is an exciting opportunity to begin a career in information technology while supporting the day-to-day digital operations of a thriving multi-academy trust.
As an IT Support Apprentice, you will play a key role in ensuring that staff and students have reliable access to the systems, devices, and technology they depend on every day. Working alongside experienced IT professionals, you will gain hands-on experience in troubleshooting hardware and software issues, supporting network infrastructure, maintaining devices, and delivering excellent customer service across our academies.
This apprenticeship offers a supportive learning environment where you will develop practical technical skills, industry knowledge, and professional behaviours, while studying towards a recognised IT qualification. A Typical Day in the Job:
- Monitor and respond to service desk tickets, escalating where appropriate and liaising with external suppliers as required.
- Support the installation, configuration and maintenance of computer hardware, software, operating systems and network services (including DNS, DHCP and Office 365), diagnosing faults and carrying out basic repairs where necessary.
- Assist with the regular maintenance of IT networks and equipment across the Trust, including transporting equipment between sites and checking deliveries.
- Maintain user accounts, security groups and directory services, ensuring system changes (e.g. web filtering and firewall updates) comply with Trust policies.
- Contribute to the evaluation and procurement of hardware and software, maintain printing consumables, and ensure accurate documentation such as inventories and network diagrams.
- Support academy websites, learning platforms and digital signage, securely dispose of end-of-life equipment, and participate in training, development and relevant meetings as required.
Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the team at Baltic Apprenticeships.
Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:
- Grade 4 in GCSE Maths & Grade 5 in GCSE English
- Driven, proactive, and positive individual with an unwavering commitment to continuously improving their own standards.

- Be able to communicate effectively and concisely.
- Be able to manage conflicting priorities and achieve deadlines.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:
- Minimum wage age dependent £15,600 – £24,332
- Mon – Thursday 8-4 Friday – 8 – 3.30

This apprenticeship programme will provide you with everything you need to launch and develop your career in IT support. Afterwards, we’ll support you to take the next steps, including further training and progression onto a Level 4 qualification.
Your Training with Baltic Apprenticeships
This Level 3 apprenticeship provides everything you need to immerse yourself in the exciting world of technology and launch a rewarding career in IT.
You’ll get hands-on experience in all areas of technical support, from configuring devices to supporting with software, optimising performance and setting up virtual environments.
