IT Support Apprentice – ISL Digital (Barking, London)

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • Providing first-line support through phone, email, video calls, and messaging using the Vantage ticketing system.
  • Troubleshooting issues using tools like CMD, TeamViewer, IP Scanner, and Papercut MF.
  • Resetting passwords, setting up PIN codes, and assisting with secure print, encryption, and multi-factor authentication.
  • Assisting with physical and remote setups of desktops, laptops, printers, routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Performing software installations, driver updates, firmware upgrades, and patching.
  • Supporting cloud services such as Azure, SharePoint, and Outlook.
  • Responding to client tickets in line with SLAs and escalating where appropriate.
  • Referencing documentation including vendor specs and internal knowledge base articles (via SharePoint and CRM).
  • Getting involved in hardware setups, RAM and CPU upgrades, and learning basic command-line scripting.

All of this will be done with the guidance of an experienced team — and full training from Baltic Apprenticeships.

 

Desired Skills, Qualities, and Knowledge:

  • Punctuality is essential
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • A positive, friendly attitude — someone with a “spark” and genuine desire to learn.
  • You don’t need to be obsessed with IT, but you must be motivated and ready to work hard.
  • A Grade 5/C in GCSE English and a Grade 4/C in GCSE Maths is required.

 Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • £15,000 – £17,000 per annum.
  • Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm (30-minute unpaid lunch).
  • 20 days holiday plus bank holidays.
  • Free on-site parking.

Your Training with Baltic Apprenticeships

You’ll complete a Level 3 IT Support Technician apprenticeship, learning everything from networking and cloud systems to IT security and user support. Training includes live sessions, flexible online learning, and personalised support from expert tutors.
