Are you ready to start your career in a vibrant and fast-paced luxury retail environment? N. Peal, a distinguished leader in luxury cashmere, is looking for an IT Apprentice to join our energetic and highly successful team in Skipton. This entry-level role is centrally positioned within our operations, offering a unique opportunity to learn and grow while making a meaningful contribution to our technological progress and the smooth running of our retail and office operations.

As an IT Apprentice at N. Peal, you will play a supportive role in maintaining and enhancing the IT framework that underpins our renowned brand and daily operations. You'll gain hands-on experience with our server environments, including Hyper-V, Windows, and Linux servers, and you will assist in managing our hardware and supporting critical retail systems like ERP and POS. Under the guidance of our IT Manager, you'll participate in strategic discussions and have a chance to influence the direction of our technological upgrades and digital transformation initiatives.

In this role, you’ll work towards your IT Support Level 3 Apprenticeship delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships. 

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • System Maintenance and Support: Help maintain IT systems including servers, network and wireless infrastructure, ERP, and retail systems. Provide support under supervision and resolve basic technical issues, while also escalating more complex problems.
  • System Upgrades and Security: Assist in updating systems with the latest software and security patches under guidance. Help monitor IT infrastructure to prevent potential disruptions and security breaches.
  • Data Management and Integrity: Support routine checks to ensure data accuracy and integrity under supervision. Assist in data migration and system upgrades, focusing on learning the processes involved.
  • User Support and Training: Support IT-related queries and help develop training materials and user manuals under guidance. Participate in training sessions to learn and eventually help enhance user competence and system utilisation.
  • Project Participation: Assist in planning and execution of IT projects like new system implementations and upgrades. Learn to manage simple project elements under supervision.
  • Technical and Industry Acumen: Stay informed of the latest trends and advancements in IT and retail technology. Use this knowledge to assist and learn about system functionality and business operations.
  • Strategic Planning Support: Assist the IT Manager in administrative tasks related to IT strategies and plans. Learn about project objectives, timelines, and resource management.

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the Baltic team.

Salary, Hours & Benefits: 

  • Salary £18,000 Per Annum
  • 40 hours per week
  • Flexible working hours
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Staff discount of 70% after passing the apprenticeship

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Some experience or educational background in IT or similar areas.
  • Willingness to learn about managing and troubleshooting hardware.
  • Exposure to Microsoft 365 suite and eagerness to learn its integration into business environments.
  • Good problem-solving skills and an interest in managing IT-related tasks.
  • Strong communication skills, able to interact with team members and train non-technical users.
  • Commitment to continual learning and professional development.
  • Aspiration to achieve certifications, and commitment to the apprenticeship scheme.
  • Exposure to retail operations and point-of-sale systems.
  • A passion for digital and technical transformation.
  • Commitment to producing quality work and understanding its impact on the business.
  • High level of initiative and reliability.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a desire to work collaboratively.
  • Grade 4/C in Math's and 5/C in English
