Why Choose Data?

Data subtly but significantly shapes the world around you; from checking the weather app on your phone, which uses past data to forecast, to watching Netflix, which uses data algorithms to recommend shows based on your watch list.

Essentially, data gets rid of the guesswork. We no longer need to rely solely on feelings or intuition, as data acts as evidence that allows for informed and transparent decisions. Individuals and businesses can harness the power of data to analyse trends, measure performance, and assess risks based on factual information.

As technology advances, data has become an integral part of business operations and growth strategies. There is a demand for data skills across a wide range of industries, and due to this, individuals working in the data field are guaranteed career longevity and a competitive salary.

FROM FASHION TO DATA

“Although I am only halfway through my apprenticeship, my time learning with Baltic at Matillion has already been a transformative experience.

This apprenticeship pathway has served as a bridge between academic learning and real-world applications in data science, enabling me to apply theoretical concepts and acquired skills to meaningful professional projects.

This apprenticeship has not only enabled a career switch that I once deemed unattainable but has also instilled in me a profound sense of confidence and capability in navigating the dynamic landscape of the tech industry.”

Decent Wage Pledge

At Baltic Apprenticeships, we champion higher apprenticeship salaries and recommend that wherever possible, apprentices are paid at a similar rate to other entry-level roles.

As of April 2024, the minimum wage for an apprentice stands at £6.40 per hour. However, the National Living Wage has increased to £11.44 per hour – this is based on rising living costs such as fuel, energy, rent and food.

At Baltic, we actively encourage our employers to consider this when deciding on a wage for their apprentice – the average salary for all our open vacancies currently ranges between £13,000 to £22,000 depending on location.

All our learners are invited to join our Baltic Community platform, which aims to build a sense of community and camaraderie for our apprentices. We have created a safe space for learners to connect with other like-minded professionals, access support from their peers and coaches, and generally make the most out of their exciting apprenticeship journey!
