As part of its ongoing commitment to development and innovation, the school is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic IT Apprentice to join the team.

This apprenticeship offers an excellent opportunity for an individual at the beginning of their IT career who is keen to learn and gain hands-on experience in a real working environment. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day operation of IT systems across the school, assisting staff and students with technical issues while developing an understanding of how IT supports teaching, learning and administration within an educational setting.

The school is looking for a candidate with a genuine interest in information technology who is willing to learn and motivated to develop new skills. The apprentice will work alongside a supportive and experienced IT team who are committed to helping the successful candidate develop and succeed. The team provides ongoing guidance and encouragement, ensuring the apprentice is well supported throughout the role.

In addition to on-the-job learning, the apprentice will receive structured training through Baltic Apprenticeships. This will include two-day training blocks every four to six weeks, allowing the apprentice to build technical knowledge and professional skills alongside their practical experience in school. This blended approach provides a strong foundation for future progression within the IT sector.

In this role, you’ll work towards your Level 3 Information Communications Technician qualification, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • To provide maintenance and technical support for all stakeholders. This may include attending supported schools as per their bespoke SLA. This includes maintenance of equipment and completing audit checks to ensure, backup and replication function as expected.
  • Log outstanding issues on the school ticket system.
  • To provide support and assistance for teachers, pupils and other staff members on the basic use and setting up of ICT equipment and software in all settings.
  •  Have the ability to work independently and to manage and prioritise workload in all settings.
  • Prepare and set up ICT equipment required for demonstration and practical work lessons, including examinations.
  • Support the setting up of audio-visual equipment.
  • Undertake routine maintenance of ICT equipment.
  • Ensure the safe disposal of obsolete equipment, used consumables and waste materials in line with recognised procedures and legal requirements.
  • Undertake regular stock checks and maintain appropriate records as required by the line manager.
  • Assist with the assessment and installation of new software, and the installation and maintenance of hardware, peripherals, and components.
  • Respond to, record and perform basic diagnostic and recover routines on network equipment, reporting any issues to the line manager.
  • Follow detailed instructions to configure network clients including allocating required software and connecting to the correct server.
  • Assist with the maintenance of electronic mail accounts.

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

  • Ability to develop a good working relationship and show a professional approach when dealing with a range of staff and stakeholders.

  • Able to prioritise work and meet challenging deadlines.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to give advice and assistance to users.
  • Can work under pressure and remain calm in difficult situations
  • Grade 4 in GCSE Maths & Grade 5 in GCSE English.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • £15,392 per annum.
  • 8am-4pm Monday to Thursday, 8am-3.30pm on Fridays.
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Pension Scheme.

This apprenticeship programme will provide you with everything you need to launch and develop your career in IT support. Afterwards, we’ll support you to take the next steps, including further training and progression onto a Level 4 qualification.

Your Training with Baltic Apprenticeships

This Level 3 apprenticeship provides everything you need to immerse yourself in the exciting world of technology and launch a rewarding career in IT. 

You’ll get hands-on experience in all areas of technical support, from configuring devices to supporting with software, optimising performance and setting up virtual environments. With our unique curriculum and one-to-one support, you’ll accelerate your skills and get the qualification and confidence you need to thrive in IT.

You’ll be based full time with an employer and will quickly become an important part of the team. Our training is 100% online, including real-time classes with our expert trainers and self-paced courses created by industry specialists.
