Q: TELL US ABOUT YOUR COMPANY AND THE ROLE THAT MARKETING PLAYS INHOUSE
Trio Media is a full service digital marketing agency, who specialise in delivering strategic marketing solutions to businesses. Marketing is not only an important part of our business, but it is what we do day in, day out. We act as an extension of our clients businesses, delivering solutions across web design, SEO, PPC, social media, video, content and more.
Q: WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO HIRE A LEVEL 4 MARKETING EXECUTIVE APPRENTICE?
At the time, we were recruiting for a number of roles within the business, and we were open to hiring someone who could learn on the job. We opened the job ads up to apprentices as well and that’s when we found Darren.
Q: WHEN HIRING DARREN, WHAT DID YOU WANT TO GET OUT OF THE PROCESS?
Whether it’s an apprentice or not, when we take someone on it is because we have a role to fill, and an apprentice will be treated as any other member of the team. Our main aim was to fill the gap in the business and because we place a lot of emphasis on continuous learning anyway, the fact we could bring someone in that had a dedicated focus on that was even better.
Q: IN 1 YEAR, WHAT HAS DARREN ACHIEVED AND HOW HAS HE GROWN PROFESSIONALLY?
Darren had several years of work experience but was doing the apprenticeship to gain a qualification in marketing and start working in a new field. After 3 months, Darren had grown significantly, taking on managing client accounts and delivering solutions for them across web, social, SEO and PPC. After 6-12 months, Darren was promoted to Account Manager as he was successfully running his accounts. Now, Darren has been promoted again into a dedicated SEO Manager role because this was an area he really enjoyed and flourished with.
Q: WHAT DIRECT IMPACT HAS DARREN HAD ON YOUR TEAM AND WIDER ORGANISATION?
Darren has had a positive impact on a number of our clients businesses, along with our own. Darren is now fully responsible for the SEO in our organisation, meaning that he runs and implements SEO strategies for all of our clients, helping to improve their rankings in organic search.
Q: HOW HAS DARREN HELPED EASE YOUR TEAMS WORKLOAD?
When we were recruiting for the role initially, we had a direct need for support in the team, which Darren helped to ease.
Q: HAS DARREN SUCCESSFULLY HELPED THE MARKETING TEAM UTILISE NEW CHANNELS? OR, HELPED TO ADAPT OLD STRATEGIES?
Darren has been involved in several strategies involving search, social and content, and played a positive role in our Running Riot podcast and 3 in 3 video series. Darren has also implemented a number of new processes and strategies in our SEO service.
Q: WHAT IS THE BIGGEST PROJECT DARREN HAS WORKED ON SO FAR?
Darren worked on the SEO for leading retail brand, Thermos.
Q: HAS DARREN PROVIDED A GOOD RETURN ON INVESTMENT?
Yes. We always paid fairly from the start and Darren’s wage has increased along with everyone else’s. The fact he had training over a period of 18 months at very little cost to the organisation was great.
Q: HOW WAS BALTICS RECRUITMENT PROCESS?
Great, they were really proactive in finding the right candidate and following up.
