The NSPCC, the UK’s leading children’s charity, has appointed Baltic Apprenticeships as its apprenticeship partner to enhance data skills across its workforce. This strategic partnership aligns with the NSPCC’s commitment to using data-driven insights to safeguard children and deliver impactful support services.
Through this collaboration, Baltic will play a key role in equipping NSPCC employees across multiple departments with essential data capabilities, fostering teamwork, enhancing operational efficiency, and enabling more informed decision-making for greater impact.
Why Data Skills Matter for the NSPCC
With data becoming increasingly available across all areas of the NSPCC, there is a growing need to ensure staff at every level—beyond traditional data analysts—have the confidence and ability to interpret, analyse, and apply data effectively in their roles. From back-office functions to frontline services, upskilling employees in data literacy will enable them to unlock valuable insights, improve decision-making, and enhance the charity’s operational impact.
A Be-Spoke Apprenticeship to Bridge the Data Skills Gap
To support this mission, Baltic Apprenticeships has developed a bespoke Level 3 Data & Business Insights apprenticeship programme, tailored to the NSPCC’s specific needs. The 15-month programme will democratise data skills across the organisation through hands-on training in AI, Excel, Power BI, and other key data tools.
By building a strong foundation in data literacy, reporting, and analytical thinking, the NSPCC aims to create a culture of confidence in data, enabling its teams to save time, create efficiencies, and enhance safeguarding initiatives.
Amy Wellings, Apprenticeship Programme Manager at NSPCC, said:
“We are incredibly excited to launch this initiative with Baltic Apprenticeships. As data becomes more accessible across the charity, it’s vital that our teams feel empowered to use it effectively. By upskilling our people, we can make more informed decisions, streamline processes, and ultimately strengthen our ability to protect children.
Laura Brown, Chief Commercial Officer at Baltic Apprenticeships, said:
“Data skills are no longer just for analysts—every role, from HR to finance to frontline operations, benefits from a strong foundation in data literacy. Organisations that invest in these skills will see significant improvements in efficiency, decision-making, and innovation.
“It’s inspiring to see the NSPCC leading the way in this space, recognising the importance of empowering employees at all levels with data-driven skills. This initiative will not only create a lasting impact within the NSPCC but also set a precedent for the wider charity sector.
“We are incredibly proud to partner with an organisation that carries out such vital work, and we look forward to supporting them on their journey to building a culture of self-service data analytics.”
Jet2’s Role in Supporting the NSPCC’s Data Upskilling Initiative
This initiative has been kick-started thanks to Jet2, which has generously funded 10 NSPCC learners to begin their data literacy journey. This investment provides a crucial opportunity to showcase the value of data skills, enhance operational efficiencies, and inspire more employees to embark on similar learning opportunities.
Amy Wellings, Apprenticeship Programme Manager, added:
“We are hugely grateful to Jet2 for their generous support in funding the first 10 learners on this programme. Their investment allows us to showcase the value of data skills within the charity and enhance confidence and competence in how we use data. This funding is helping to build momentum, inspiring more of our people to take on similar opportunities and develop the skills needed to create lasting impact.”
Looking Ahead: A Data and AI-Literate Future for the NSPCC
By embedding data skills across the organisation, the NSPCC is taking a progressive step towards a future where every employee feels confident using data to inform their work. This initiative will not only enhance efficiency and decision-making but will also support the NSPCC’s mission to keep children safe through data-led innovation.
