Baltic Apprenticeships have donated £3,250 to a range of charities since launching an employer referral scheme in 2019.

The referral scheme is an amazing way for our customers to spread the word about apprenticeships within their business networks and support their chosen charity at the same time. The process is simple:

  • Step 1: Our customers recommend us to another organisation via our online form and choose their charity.
  • Step 2: We’ll explore digital and tech apprenticeships with the referred organisation.
  • Step 3: When an apprentice is enrolled on a programme with us, we’ll donate £250 to the selected charity.

Over the last few months, we’ve made donations to The Children’s Foundation, East Cheshire Hospice, Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice, and youth-centred charities Barnstondale and Blackburn Youth Zone.

Ram Gupta, Managing Director at Nybble, explained the benefits of the scheme:

“The referral scheme is a wonderful initiative that allows local causes to benefit from the placement of able students. As patrols of our chosen charity, Blackburn Youth Zone, we are proud of the amazing work they do on supporting our future – the youth of society. As apprenticeship programmes aim to do the same, the choice was a natural fit. Baltic are a natural choice of apprenticeship provider because they deliver good candidates and manage the process wonderfully.”

Carl Enser, Sales Director at Fabric IT, had a very positive reaction when he heard that an apprenticeship had been created as a result of his referral. “Baltic once again exceeded my expectations by providing a £250 charity donation in our name to East Cheshire Hospice,” he said. “I only referred them because they do fantastic work, so this was just another tremendous touch.”

Which Charities Will the Referral Scheme Support?

When one of our customers makes a referral, they can choose from our four partner charities or nominate a local charity of their choice. Our partner charities are close to our hearts, and have been chosen by the whole team at Baltic Apprenticeships:

  • Cancer Research UK: cancer has affected the lives of so many people, and we can’t wait for the day when all cancers can be cured. To this end, we’re proud to support Cancer Research UK, a world leading organisation helping to develop new treatments and make a real difference to people’s lives.
  • Dog’s Trust: At Baltic Apprenticeships, we’re a team of dog people – from collies to terriers, staffies to cockerpoos, we love them all. Dog’s Trust is the largest dog welfare charity in the UK, caring for over 16,000 dogs each year in their rehoming centres.
  • Alzheimer’s Society: Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer, and right now there isn’t a cure. The Alzheimer’s Society provides amazing support to people experiencing dementia, and their families too.
  • Smart Works Newcastle: Smart Works help women get into work and give them the confidence they need to succeed at interview. They provide interview clothing and one-to-one coaching, helping women directly into work.
