As a Network Engineering Apprentice, you'll work alongside experienced engineers, developing practical skills in network infrastructure, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, troubleshooting, and customer support while contributing to real-world projects.

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • Monitor network infrastructure, cloud environments, alerts, and support tickets using tools such as Zabbix and Zendesk, ensuring incidents are prioritised and resolved efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot network and connectivity issues using Wireshark, Advanced IP Scanner, NSLookup, IPConfig, and Azure diagnostic tools.
  • Install, configure, and maintain networking equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, servers, and cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Support network security through user authentication management, Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Duo MFA, Fortinet firewall administration, and firmware/software updates.
  • Attend customer sites to assist with installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and infrastructure deployments while providing excellent customer service.
  • Maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, and infrastructure records using NetBox and SharePoint, while supporting change management, network upgrades, optimisation, and security improvement projects.

 Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • Salary – £19,000 – £22,000
  • 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm (1-hour lunch break)

  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
  • Grade 5/C in English or 4/C in Math's GCSE
