Livepoint Software Solutions is on the hunt for a talented Level 4 Software Developer Apprentice to join their passionate team. This is your chance to launch your tech career at a company that's at the forefront of innovation. They're a company that values creativity, collaboration, and a drive to make a real difference.
They are seeking a Software Development Apprentice eager to get hands-on experience in AI and workflow automation. This is an opportunity to learn how to design, build, test, and deploy real software solutions while being mentored by senior engineers and working on live client projects. You’ll contribute to the full software development lifecycle and gain experience using modern tools and technologies in a collaborative, supportive environment.
In this role, you’ll work towards your Level 4 Software Development qualification, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.
A Typical Day in the Job:
Design
- Contribute to design sessions for new features or client projects.
- Produce wireframes, UML diagrams, or ERD models to guide development.
- Help choose suitable design patterns for automation and AI tasks.
Development
- Write clean, logical, and maintainable code using languages such as Python and JavaScript (React).
- Build automation scripts, APIs, or internal tools under supervision
- Follow organisational coding standards and participate in code reviews
Testing
- Create and run unit, functional, and integration tests.
- Identify and fix errors including syntax, logical, and functional bugs.
Deployment & Maintenance
- Assist with deploying code through CI/CD pipelines.
- Help monitor live systems, apply updates, and improve performance.
- Document updates and maintain version control via Git and GitHub.
What You’ll Learn – by the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll be able to:
- Write efficient, maintainable, and secure software code aligned with company standards.
- Apply appropriate software design patterns (e.g. MVC, Factory, Singleton).
- Work with data sources such as APIs, databases, and file-based data (JSON, CSV).
- Follow secure development practices to protect data and prevent vulnerabilities.
- Apply different testing methods (unit, integration, end-to-end, acceptance).
- Use Git for version control branching, merging, and managing collaborative workflows.
- Create technical documentation, including user stories, workflows, and design artefacts.
Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the Baltic team.
Salary, Hours & Benefits:
- £18,000 per annum
- Working Monday-Friday
- Flexible working hours, 37.5 hours per week

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:
- Curious about technology and automation.
- Motivated to experiment, learn, and solve problem.
- Comfortable working independently but loves collaborating.
- Detail-oriented and committed to writing quality, maintainable code.
- Some experience with Python, JavaScript, or another programming language.
- Strong problem-solving and logical thinking skills
- A passion for learning new tools, frameworks, and AI technologies
- Minimum grade 4/C in English and Maths at GCSE is required for this role.
Your Training with Baltic:
With our unique apprenticeship programme, you'll build an impressive range of coding skills and learn to thrive as a junior developer. On completion, 95% of our learners remain in full-time employment.
