Birmingham Diocesan Multi-Academy Trust is a West Midlands based multi-academy trust committed to providing high-quality education for all children in their schools through collaboration, challenge and targeted support.

As an IT Apprentice, you'll dive headfirst into the dynamic realm of information technology within an educational setting. You'll work alongside seasoned professionals who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and guiding you throughout your journey. Your tasks will span a wide range of IT functions, from troubleshooting technical issues to assisting with network maintenance and contributing to the development of innovative digital solutions that enhance the learning experience.

This is a central position based at the BDMAT head office; however, travel to any of the schools in the trust will be required.

In this role, you’ll work towards your Level 3 Information Communication Technician qualification, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • Work within the IT Team to support the trust’s staff and students via the helpdesk system including remote and on-site support.
  • Opportunity to be involved in a wide range of projects such as new installs, cabling, setting up networks to cloud. 
  • Set up and configuration of devices including laptops, tablets, desktop computers, Chromebooks, etc.
  • Support on the deployment of IT capital works across the MAT and its schools.
  • Assist the rest of the IT team with other tasks as requested.
  • Office 365 console administration.
  • Microsoft Entra ID administration (user, group and device administration)

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the Baltic team.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • Salary – £17,000 per anum
  • Monday – Friday 8:30 – 4:30 with 30 minute lunch 
  • Early finish at 4 PM on a Friday
  • Will be working full-time time not term-time
  • Employee assistant support
  • 28 days Annual Leave (includes bank holidays)
  • Opportunity to be involved in a wide range of projects such as new installs, cabling, setting up networks to cloud. 
  • cycle to work scheme 
  • Milage paid for on top of salary for travel to different schools in the trust

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Must hold a UK Driving licence and be able to drive due to traveling to different schools – Mileage is paid for any traveling on top of salary.
  • Customer service skills
  • Passion for IT
  • Good communication and people skills.
  • An enthusiasm for problem-solving and fault finding.
  • Grade 4/C in Math’s and English or Functional Skills Level 2

This apprenticeship provides the skills, qualification and experience you need to immerse yourself within an exciting, fast-moving industry and become an effective IT Technician.
