Calling all aspiring Level 4 Software Development apprentices!

We are offering a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to join a fantastic team of professionals as a Level 4 Software Development Apprentice. This role is ideal for those eager to develop their skills in Maximo development within a supportive and dynamic environment. In this role, you’ll work towards your Level 4 Software Development Apprenticeship, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • Participate in all areas of the development lifecycle, including planning, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Write logical and maintainable code to produce software solutions in line with specifications, considering performance and user experience.
  • Identify and apply appropriate bug fixes, including functional, syntax, logical, and calculation errors, as well as unit-level and system-level bugs.
  • Work securely within development best practices to ensure software is not vulnerable to malicious attacks.
  • Contribute to various testing frameworks and methodologies, including non-functional testing, unit testing, and integration testing.
  • Make connections between code and data sources.
  • Work with version control systems.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and other stakeholders through email, face-to-face communication, and team huddles/scrums.
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues, managers, and peers on projects and tasks.
  • Create technical documentation, including analysis artifacts and design documents.
  • Apply appropriate software design approaches and patterns to meet project requirements.
  • Develop an understanding and interest in AI technologies and their application within software solutions.

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the Baltic team.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • £19,000 – £22,000 per annum
  • Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
  • 33 days holidays (option to use this holiday allowance for bank holidays)

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Grade 6 in maths and Grade 4 in English is required for this role.
  • Interest in AI development and its real-world applications.
  • Proficient with computers and common software such as Word and Excel.
  • Good analytical skills and perseverance in solving problems.
  • Positive attitude and ability to learn quickly.
  • Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of work.
  • Ability to work productively both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Good customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
