The technical training courses cover all knowledge, skills and behaviours required by the Apprenticeship Standard. Our training is delivered by subject specialists via our SMART Classroom learning environment.

Course 1: Excel for Data Analysis

This course provides a hands-on introduction to Excel for data analysis, introducing formulas and functions alongside the fundamentals of working with data. Apprentices will learn to create and manage professional spreadsheets for specialised purposes, customising Excel environments to enhance productivity and meet a variety of project needs.

Microsoft Office Specialist: This course includes an Exam Voucher, giving apprentices the chance to gain a Microsoft Excel Associate Certification.

Course 2: Working with Data Sources

Within any organisation, data comes from many different sources including software systems, sales analytics, customer feedback and marketing channels. This course explores the role of data, data sources and architecture, and how to gather and prepare data from multiple sources.

Course 3: Gaining Insights Through Data Analysis

In data analysis, conclusions are only as reliable as the source data. This course equips apprentices with an understanding of data quality and practical data validation techniques. This training includes algorithms and basic statistical methods, identifying data trends, and auditing results.

Course 4: Decision Making Through Data Stories

The best data professionals are those who can communicate insights from complex data in an accessible way, helping others to act. This course focuses on ways to present data and communicate results for different audiences. Our training includes reporting tools and techniques, communication methods for different audiences, and the legal and ethical frameworks for data storage, distribution, and transfer.

Alongside our formal technical training courses, Baltic apprentices are supported to implement their knowledge, skills, and behaviours within their job role. Through a mix of workplace projects and competency workshops, apprentices will learn to put their skills into practice and create measurable impact within your team.

Workplace Projects

Apprentices will complete a range of data processing projects throughout their apprenticeship, based on their job role and business needs. These projects will cover data gathering, analysis, validation and dissemination, and will form a robust and professional portfolio of evidence.

Competency Workshops

Our specialist Technical Skills Coaches will support and prepare learners for the workplace projects through competency workshops. These training days enable apprentices to apply knowledge to current projects and their working environment.

The End Point Assessment is the final stage of the apprenticeship programme and is conducted by an independent assessor. The EPA includes data gathering and analysis tasks, based around scenarios relevant to a Data Technician role, and an interview supported by a portfolio of evidence.

EPA Preparation: Implementing Data Processes

This practice-based course is delivered towards the end of the apprenticeship programme to help learners effectively prepare for their End Point Assessment.

Learning Mentor Support

Throughout a Baltic Apprenticeship, our apprentices are supported by a dedicated Learning Mentor. Our Learning Mentors conduct regular one-to-one review sessions throughout the programme, providing targeted personal support to set learners up for success.
