I worked for a training company since 2011 and was unfortunately made redundant in 2016. When I seen that Baltic was advertising for an FS Manager role, I couldn't fill out the application quick enough! I had heard such good things regarding Baltic reputation and I was very excited to explore the role and bring my skill set to the table.
I graduated from Southampton Solent University, achieving a BA degree with Honours 2'1. This then steered me in good stead to complete my Teaching qualification and subject specialisms in both maths and English. I then went on to complete my assessing qualification, followed by my IQA qualification. Next on my agenda is a management qualification to add breath and depth to my current skills.
My previous roles have all been within education. I really enjoyed teaching Media at Newcastle college while completing my teaching qualification and learnt so many valuable transferable skills from this experience. Following this my roles included: Functional Skills Tutor, Functional Skills Lead and IQA Lead, Centre Manager and Functional Skills Manager. All roles have allowed me to develop and expand my knowledge and experience, which has lead me to the role I am in today.
I have great communication skills, motivational skills. I am good at problem solving, team leading, decision making and very organised. I have achieved both GCSE'S and A Levels Media, I also have a Degree 2'1 Teaching Certificate, Maths and English specialism, an Assessors Award and a TAQA.
I have been at Baltic for almost 3 years now.
My main role and responsibility is to manage and support the assessment and Functional Skill teams. I am responsible for the timely completion of all apprenticeships linked to my team. I work with both teams ensuring quality alongside our SOP, in order to manage each milestone achievement. I am responsible for all MI data reporting for both departments and have to frequently analyse against target KPI’s and quarterly/yearly trends, reported at weekly SMT meetings. I work with each individual assessor in my team to ensure they manage their caseloads effectively and prioritise workload and deadlines in accordance to EPA end dates and milestones. I work closely with the head of Assessment & Training to ensure quality and compliance with our assessment projects, ensuring a strong competency portfolio for each learners EPA. I work very closely with our MI Manager linked to system developments and enhancements.
I love supporting and guiding my teams to enhance their understanding and development, which in turn will ultimately ensure a solid learner journey.
It is very difficult to choose as there have been so many! However, one of my favourite memories was being awarded a Baltic award for Innovation.
I first started in 2016 as a Functional Skills Manager, I was then seconded the following year to manage the assessment team as maternity cover. I was in my element to be promoted to Assessment & Functional Skills Manager towards the end of 2017 and I had a further promotion last year to Senior Assessment and Functional Skills Manager.
I would love to travel America in a camper van :)
