I was the owner of a very successful I.T company with customers worldwide, but I wasn’t satisfied. Then, Baltic contacted me however, this time not about having an apprentice but, inquiring if I was interested in working for them. So, I decided to go back into teaching after 4 years away and I’ve never looked back.
As well as my GCSE’s I have various industry qualifications including Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+ and a collection of Microsoft Certifications.
I have had a variety of roles since leaving school; from working in a bank to a HGV1 driver, but I have always gravitated back to I.T. Since working in data centres, as a consultant and as a teacher, where I taught specialist Networking in FE at the Manchester College, the Manchester university and for the OU, I discovered my passion for teaching.
I have worked at Baltic now for just over one year and I am loving every minute of it …. job satisfaction at last!
I am currently a Senior Technical Trainer where I am responsible for delivering Level 3 & Level 4 courses, invigilating exams across the country, updating course materials and supporting the curriculum team along with other members of staff.
The best part of my job is that I help individuals in their journey to success and help them achieve their career goals. Getting to know the learners and seeing how they progress through their apprenticeships is a great privilege.
One of my favourite memories at Baltic is; when I had an apprentice, who had been struggling to grasp some of the concepts of Networking within the group sessions, so I spent some time in a 1-to-1 session to help him understand the concepts. When he sat his exam on the following Friday he passed with an above average score, which he more than deserved to achieve!
