At Baltic Apprenticeships, we love celebrating success stories – especially when they come from our team.

We recently caught up with Bethany Breden, who joined Baltic in 2018. Bethany started as Business Consultant and has since received 7 promotions. Now, Beth is leading her own department as Head of New Business!

Find out more about Beth's journey, what it’s like to work in the apprenticeship sector and what makes her proud to be Baltic below:

WHAT IS YOUR DAY-TO-DAY?

My day-to-day role varies! As Head of New Business, I manage a team of 7 Sales Managers and around 20 Business Consultants. We are responsible for generating and educating businesses on the benefits of investing in apprenticeships. I focus on driving the continuous success of the department, as well as looking for improvement areas and ways we can create more opportunities for people to kickstart their career.

WHAT IS MOST REWARDING ABOUT YOUR ROLE?

The most rewarding part of my role is being able to help others in Baltic develop. I have always had a passion for supporting people and helping them succeed. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing people progress, especially if it has been from the back of the advice that I have given!

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE A CAREER IN SALES?

As soon as I saw the advert many moons ago, I knew it was for me! Previously, I was stuck in a job with no progression opportunities, so seeing how invested Baltic was in their staff was a huge selling point for me!

Also, being able to speak to employers and be the starting point for them looking to hire an apprentice - amazed me. It has been the best career move that I've ever made, and I could not see myself working anywhere else in the future. Not only do I work alongside an amazing team, but we also all strive towards the same goal, helping people start their dream careers!

WHAT KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED?

One of Baltic’s core values is ‘Change is Good’. Being part of a world where the future is so fast-paced, we need to make sure that as a provider, we are keeping up with the latest trends. I absolutely love learning new things and coming up with creative ideas to make business improvements! Coaching and mentoring my team and helping them develop is also something that massively motivates me.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY ABOUT WORKING IN THE APPRENTICESHIP SECTOR?

There are so many reasons why I enjoy working in the apprenticeship sector, but the main one is helping people start a career in an industry that they are passionate about. The level of job satisfaction is high, I know that I'm a part of something much bigger. Even now, many companies don’t know what an apprenticeship is or the benefits they can bring. Advising people and helping them understand the true value of apprenticeships is what we are here for - and something we are good at!

WHAT MAKES YOU PROUD TO BE BALTIC?

I am so proud to work at Baltic! My team, our culture, the progression opportunities, the list of reasons is endless! Not to mention the amazing events and benefits our Managing Director provides us.

As an employee, I feel supported and valued within my role. This massively helps with job satisfaction and is one of the reasons I see myself working here long term. When I joined in 2018, I had no idea that I would be able to progress this far. With hard work, dedication and support from my managers, I progressed from Business Consultant to Team Leader, Sales Manager, and to where I am now as Head of New Business.
