In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, social distancing and stay at home measures have resulted in many businesses switching to fully remote operations - but what impact does this have on recruitment?
IT and tech teams are proving they are business heroes during these unprecedented times, the technical support and guidance they provide has given them Key Worker status. For these essential roles, recruitment can’t just stop because many of us are not physically in the office.
At Baltic, we’re embracing new ways of working and supporting those businesses who still need to hire and onboard staff, this includes:
Extended recruitment periods – if you’re interested in recruiting an apprentice, but don’t have the capacity to do so in the short-term, we can start the process and agree on timescales which are suitable for you.
Remote interviews – during this period, we’re recommending all interviews are conducted via online platforms: Skype, Google Hangouts and Zoom are great free tools for this.
Delayed start dates – if you find the perfect candidate for your role but you’re unable to offer them a position immediately, we can agree an appropriate start date. During this time, we’ll help candidates develop their skills further by completing courses relevant to the apprenticeship they will be enrolling onto.
Coronavirus is undoubtedly impacting the way we all do business at the moment. While we navigate the changes and take necessary precautions, utilising technology will allow us to continue playing our part in addressing the ongoing skills shortages in the tech and digital sector.
