At Baltic, we are passionate about helping young people kickstart exciting careers in tech. We make it our mission to help them grow their skills, develop their confidence and build on their passion.
In Greater Manchester, our talent pool is very strong. We have recently teamed up with Back2Work to extend our pre-apprenticeship training for our candidates to help create long-term career opportunities for young people in the area.
If you're looking for an apprentice in digital marketing, software development or IT infrastructure, your perfect candidate could already be in our talent pool with the enhanced digital skills they need to hit the ground running!
The Back2Work scheme enables unemployed and underemployed young people, aged 16-30, to gain a Level 1 Diploma qualification in Digital Skills and Technologies. During this three-week programme, our candidates receive a solid introduction to digital marketing and IT infrastructure, where teaching is interwoven with practical assignments and employability training to set our learners up for success in industry.
Back2Work are an established pre-employment training provider with a fantastic reputation. With a track-record of training over 10,000 learners across a wide range of industries, Back2Work empower people with the knowledge, skills and confidence employers are looking for.
Millie, one of our recent graduates from the scheme said: "I really enjoyed the course, it allowed me to keep brushing up on my existing knowledge while learning new skills. I learned how to build a basic network and I also created a digital campaign which was really interesting as I want to get into Digital Marketing. We also looked at how to utilise social media within a business. This will be really useful going forward for future roles."
Before Coronavirus, 70% of learners who completed the Back2Work course went on to secure apprenticeships, full time roles, or have gone into further education as a result of their training. However, these past weeks of uncertainty have left both businesses and young people wondering what their next steps may be. As we look to the future, we see it as our role at Baltic to help connect employers with talented young jobseekers, so that they can help each other adapt to the changing world.
For employers, digital skills are in increasing demand, and apprenticeship programmes are an energising and cost-effective way to cultivate these skills within your organisation, growing your tech talent through a high-quality training programme. Our talent pool system is great for employers, often bringing faster turnaround on recruitment and a choice of programme-ready candidates with enhanced digital skills.
Depending on the size of your business, training programmes can be either fully-funded, 95% funded, or pre-paid through Apprenticeship Levy contributions, with only wages to cover. With your support, apprentices can bring in new skills, ideas and energy to your workplace, and can often become a transformational force within a business.
Our Talent Pool candidates and Back2Work graduates are apprenticeship-ready and waiting in the wings for the opportunity to kickstart their career. If you’d like to find out more about our current candidates, or about how apprenticeships could fit into your post-Covid workforce, why not get in touch with our team?
Update: Following on from the success of our Manchester collaboration with Back2Work, the service will soon be extended to include candidates and businesses based in Sheffield.
