The demand for data talent is skyrocketing. 86% of managers report having difficulty hiring talent in this area, but without people who can dive into your data, your data cannot work for you.

It's clear that change is needed, and we're about to deliver a data skills explosion within the Leeds City Region. As part of an innovative pilot project, supported by the Department for Education and West Yorkshire Combined Authority, we will begin to create the next generation of data experts.

Whether you're looking to upskill junior staff in your Marketing, IT, Operations, Software or Finance teams - our Dive into Data Bootcamp offers an exciting practical introduction to the world of data.

What will participants learn?

We use a mix of instructor-led online training and hands-on activities to create a dynamic training opportunity, optimised for all learning styles.

The Dive into Data Bootcamp will embed a strong understanding of data essentials for business, including four core elements:

  • Data Modelling
  • Database Development
  • Data Representation & Manipulation
  • Communicating Data

Participants will also be able to choose from a range of additional self-directed courses, tailoring their learning to the needs of your organisation. From Software for Data to Data for Digital Marketing, we have options to suit all departments and career trajectories.

Bootcamp Dates & Duration

The Dive into Data Bootcamp will run from January 2021 for around 12 weeks. We would advise that participants spend around 8 hours a week on their training, this can be scheduled flexibility to fit around work or caring responsibilities.

For organisations looking to register multiple candidates, a bespoke accelerated training schedule may be arranged on request.

How can Data Skills Help your Organisation Grow?

If this past year has taught us anything, it is that change is always just around the corner. The business landscape - and indeed the wider world - is not as predictable as before. To remain agile, and to be ready for the changes ahead, we need to invest in our people and equip them with the skills they'll need to thrive in the future.

An investment in data skills is an investment in the future of your organisation. According to a report by Forbes, 90% of data present in the world today was produced in the last two years alone. Businesses are drowning in data and can't always recruit the talent they need to make sense of it.

By equipping your team with the skills and mindset to dive into your data, you can generate real insights into your operations, your customers, and your organisation. Data-driven decisions can improve your products, processes, and your bottom line.

Next Steps

The Dive into Data Bootcamp pilot project is currently running free of charge within the Leeds City Region area. The Bootcamp is open to anyone aged 19+ who is looking to develop data skills.

The Dive into Data Bootcamp has been designed as a retraining and upskilling opportunity for those seeking work or looking to progress with their current employer.

Progression routes from the Bootcamp include securing employment in a digital or tech role, promotion to more senior roles, assuming additional responsibilities, or enrolment in a data-focused apprenticeship.
