This week is Mental Health Awareness Week running from 14th May to 20th May 2018! This week opens the opportunity to start a conversation around mental health, and what we can do to support those around us.

According the Mental Health Foundation, two thirds of people experience mental health problems in their lifetimes, with stress being a huge contributing factor.

It’s important that our employees, and apprentices feel supported at work and have outlets to reduce stress as well as talk about their mental health. Taking care of your mental health shouldn’t be a burden: that’s why we’re here to help.

Mental Health Awareness Week has a focus on recognising and managing stress both at home and in the workplace. Although ‘stress’ isn’t a recognised mental health condition in itself, it is noted as a key trigger and contributor to recognised mental health conditions such as: anxiety and depression, that 1 in 6 adults in Britain will experience in their life.

It is therefore important to recognise what stress is to you, as seen below, and understand simple ways to practice self-care in order to “Address Your Stress” in ways provided below.

As part of our commitment to mental health, Baltic are part of the Mindful Employer Charter to support our employee’s mental wellbeing at work, as well as opening our Apprentice Helpline last year that is available 24/7 to Baltic apprentices. In addition to this, we are also enrolling our staff on training, delivered by MIND, to increase our workforce’s own awareness, and support our staff more in the future.

No one should have to struggle in silence: our Baltic team is here to help!

If you’re an apprentice with Baltic, and you need someone to talk to you can dial our apprenticeship helpline at: 0300 555 6006

Our apprentice helpline is completely confidential, and run by impartial, highly experienced advisors who will offer support for whatever life throws at you. Let us lend you a helping hand with whatever problems you have in life; whether you’re having personal difficulties at home or struggling with health and wellbeing – we’re here for you.
