Spooky season is upon us! Whilst the month of October is all about carving jack-o'-lanterns, horror movie marathons, pumpkin spiced lattes, and apple bobbing – we still have some *spooktacular* apprentice achievements to share!
This month, we received a range of outstanding nominations from our employers highlighting our apprentices' achievements in the workplace. From digital marketers levelling up social media strategies to data technicians helping make strategic decisions – our apprentices continue to go above and beyond!
October's Apprentice of the Month is Pedro Sousa, a Level 3 Digital Marketing apprentice at Envirosystems UK. Pedro was nominated by line manager Steph Bedford who highlighted how Pedro has progressed throughout the apprenticeship:
"Pedro has been with the company since April and his progression has been impressive, he came into the agricultural industry with no prior knowledge and has put in the time and effort to learn about our stakeholders and target markets. Not only has he given this amount of effort to his new role, but Pedro also consistently gets over 90% in his apprenticeship exams with Baltic."
Steph also gave us an insight into how Pedro integrated himself into the team:
"Over the past month, Pedro has attended two trade shows representing the marketing team and integrated seamlessly with the sales team to provide an essential communication portal between the two teams. Pedro continues to grow in confidence and has taken on some big projects this past month, including mastering photoshop to produce banners for our trade stand, and working with the digital marketing team to provide statistics from social campaigns which have run across the past month."
We also heard about Pedro's fantastic attitude to work and how he takes feedback on board:
"No task is too big for him, he loves a challenge whether this is finding out how to do a task via a video on YouTube or asking other members of staff, no task will defeat him. To date he has learnt how to produce brochures on InDesign, adverts using Photoshop, YouTube video content using Adobe Premiere Pro and performed website analytics for the team using Google Analytics.
"Pedro not only delivers work to a high standard, but it is usually before the deadlines set for him. Positive feedback has come back from various members of the team that have worked with him.
"Pedro isn’t afraid to receive constructive feedback, often asking for feedback on his work and taking the comments on board to learn from them."
Well done Pedro, keep up the fantastic work!
Although there can only be one winner, we received a seasonal batch of 13 (lucky) nominations that deserve to be recognised:
"Adam has taken on the role of content creation and has started to be recognised and respected across the large college, I am happy for Adam to now work independently, and he has shown he can manage projects on his own and demonstrates great knowledge. He is not only completing the apprenticeship himself but has also helped to train people across the college and bring people up-to-speed in digital marketing."
"Adam has worked at Healthy Stuff for just under a year, but now handles the social media output for more than 30 of our businesses on his own. He is also responsible for the newsletters, content, graphics, and output of all of these brands which have seen a high open and conversion rate."
Diamond – Daniel is a priceless member of the team, one in a million.
Able – from day 1 his hunger to learn has been very clear, he tackles new tasks with ease.
Never grumbles – Daniel has a real can-do attitude, he’s always keen to get involved and help in any way he can.
IT guru – he’s not just doing IT – he loves IT!
Eager – Daniel oozes enthusiasm and is super keen to progress his career in IT.
Legendary – Daniel has already created a reputation within the business for having an amazing attitude and abilities.
"During her first month with us, Elly proved to be an extremely adaptable learner, picking up processes that were new to her after the first point of training. These include simple data reports that we present to department managers, all the way up to high level charts, graphs and pivot tables for our company directors.
"Elly’s attitude, conduct and professional approach to all aspects of this role, given its sensitive arena of personal data, has been second to none. She is always approachable, happy to accept new requests for information and even take on other projects."
"Ethan is a great asset to the IT department at Cinram Novum, he has proved himself capable and adaptable. He is a pleasure to work with and is very quick to catch on to new ideas and problems, with valid suggestions and solutions."
“Jack has been with Signal since April 2021, in that short space of time has proved to be a valuable asset to our busy technical support team. He has truly excelled within the role.
"He deals with our key accounts on a day-to-day basis and reacts to situations effectively. No call is ever the same, so it’s excellent that he can think on his feet. We have full trust in Jack to solve customer queries."
"Jack has already become an integral part of the business in such a short time. He goes above and beyond in any task given, researches and problem solves using his own initiative and is held in high regard by all our team."
"James has great customer service skills and has gone over and above on many occasions to ensure our customers’ needs are met. We recently had a major issue with our guest wireless, not only did James get stuck in helping us to test, diagnose and fix the issue but he would always make sure the customer was up to date until the issue was resolved."
"Jamie has been shadowing our senior engineer on-site and helping with jobs, including assisting with new computer setups, cabling jobs and wireless network installs. All of this requires him to learn new skills, which he has excelled at and picked things up very quickly.
"We are now starting to send him to some on-site jobs unaccompanied, answer telephone calls and deal with basic support queries. He has been building machines for customers, testing equipment, and writing user guides for customers. He is miles ahead with his coursework and has scored 95% in two recent exams."
"Katie is keen to challenge herself and has built strong relationships with other members of the team when completing her off-the-job training, she will ask how and why things work the way they do to give herself a better understanding of IT and how we use it in our organisation.
"Katie continues to go from strength to strength in her role with each day that passes, and she is now able to support end-users with a range of issues as her knowledge and experience in IT continue to grow."
"On top of his own projects, Liam deals with support issues. He is the first point of contact for all support calls and he either tries to resolve them himself or passes them on to more senior developers as and when required. He is well-liked by our customers and can now solve more support tickets on his own."
"Collaboration is key to the success of the technology team. Marek takes part in regular catch-ups with the wider team to share the ideas with them and makes them aware of any concerns he has or suggestions about the data. He offers in-depth knowledge of his area of speciality (which is data validation and data quality). Great results, integrity, and creativity!"
"Ryan has consistently gone above and beyond with both his studies and work. Ryan demonstrates a positive approach to any task he turns his hand to and is an exemplary student and member of our team. As our first apprentice, I was somewhat hesitant – however, Ryan has convinced me that there really is a massive benefit to the organisation and that the apprentice scheme is a fantastic opportunity for both the apprentice and the employer."
