Online training




Learn by doing with our technical training. You'll put theory into practice with hands-on projects and expert demonstrations in eight 2-day SMART Classroom courses. Our skills-based programme and project-led approach gives you the tools you need to thrive in your career. 

You'll take the following courses:

Course 1: Networking Concepts

This course focuses on the principles of network configuration and management. You'll build on your foundation of knowledge and develop skills to implement and maintain effective networks.

Course 2: Advanced Networking

This course builds on the fundamentals and introduces advanced networking concepts. Through hands-on labs, you'll apply key concepts to identify, troubleshoot and resolve network issues.

Course 3: Network Maintenance

This course focuses on network maintenance and optimisation. You'll explore approaches to keep networks running at peak performance and deploy techniques to optimise live networks.

Course 4: Network Security

This course teaches the fundamentals of network security. You'll explore vulnerabilities across a range of network architecture and learn practical methods to keep networks safe.

Course 5: Network Installation

This course expands on key concepts through hands-on network installation activities. You'll apply your knowledge to prepare, install and test new nodes across different network types.

Course 6: Cloud Computing & Virtualisation (Part 1)

In this course, you'll explore cloud technologies and platforms and develop your understanding of virtualisation concepts and tools.

Course 7: Cloud Computing & Virtual Networks (Part 2)

Building on the concepts from the previous session, you'll build your own private cloud in Hyper-V. In this course, you'll develop the skills you need to administer, maintain and update cloud networks.

Course 8: EPA Preparation: Implementing Networks

This course brings together network principles, architecture, and security to recap knowledge and build confidence ahead of the practical element of your End Point Assessment.


Our apprenticeship curriculum combines expert technical training with corresponding workplace projects. After mastering key principles, you'll get the opportunity to apply what you've learned to your workplace and continue developing your skills within real business contexts.

Role Overview: Network Engineer

People in this role work with hardware and software to set up networks and ensure systems operate effectively, anticipating and troubleshooting issues.

A Network Engineer’s role varies across organisations: they can be customer facing or work on internal projects. Network Engineers can specialise in many different areas, such as infrastructure installation, customer support, cloud networks, or network security.

Our apprentices come together from all over the country and work together in the SMART Classroom learning environment. Our SMART Classrooms are technology enhanced, cloud-based classrooms that deliver engaging interactive training, live from your expert Network Coach.
